"HAND" NOTE AND LETTER HOLDER,
Have fun making this for your mother.
Materials needed:
Heavy card board
Paints for the fingernails
Scissors
Button or jewel for the ring on the finger
Small block for base of holder
Small pieces of lace or other things to add a special touch
Pencil for tracing hand
Glue
Instructions:
Place one hand with the fingers spread apart, on a piece of heavy cardboard.
Trace the outline of your hand. Now do the same thing with the other hand.
Cut out (get some help from someone older if this is too difficult, which might happen,
depending on the paper chosen).
Color all or parts of both hands, add a button on one finger or
use other materials to simulate a ring/rings on the hand.
Glue to the sides of a small wooden block.
(You may want to paint the block before hand).
This may be used to hold letters, notes or napkins
EASY RECIPE HOLDER
1 soup can
1 tongue depressor
1 spring type clothes pin
Fabric scrap (gingham looks cute) approx. 6" x 8"
A small amount of packing straw or similar material
Strong glue
1 plastic egg or blown egg
2 wiggly eyes.
Save a soup can, rinse out well (without taking the label off) and let dry.
Glue tongue depressor onto the back side of the can (label facing front) leaving about 2" sticking out of the can.
Glue the clothes pin to the top of the tongue depressor at an angle with the clamp side facing up.
When this is dry, glue the fabric onto the inside of the can with bits of the fabric sticking out of
the can.
Add the packing straw.
Glue the eyes to the egg (as a face) and glue the egg on top of
the packing straw.
Wrap this up and you're done.
Mom'll love it. My kids have made one for me and I use mine constantly, and have for the past 15 years. It looks nice too!
Wish your mom a Happy Mother's Day and be sure to give her a kiss and hug!!
