Fabric Autumn Leaves

For each turkey you need:

  1. Piece of waxed paper (or plastic wrap) large enough to place the fabric on

  2. Cotton or cotton blend fabric 4 "X 20 to 21", in an autumn pattern and color.

  3. One bottle white glue or Tacky glue.

  4. Paint brush, 1" wide.

  5. One 2" Pompom in complementing color

  6. One pipe cleaner ( 12" long) in complementing color

  7. Glue gun or tacky glue

  8. Scraps of red felt for turkey gobbler

  9. Scraps of black felt, black beads, or wiggly eyes

  10. Scrap of yellow felt for beak

Instructions:

  1. Paint white glue on the fabric piece and place on waxed paper to dry. Make sure to smooth out and keep it blocked in the rectangle shape. Dry overnight.

  2. When dry, fold, accordion style to make a fan. Use approximate 1" fold, folding the short side first. Glue one end while holding into to place. This will make a fan in a half circle. Bend the pipe cleaner into a spiral, starting in the center and winding around about 4 times to make a head, leaving about 6" free for the neck etc. Cut off 3"-4"

  3. Bend around the bottom of the pompom and glue. Glue pompom onto fan with head toward the front.

  4. Bend the remaining pipe cleaner piece into a circle.

  5. Glue on to the bottom of the pompom to stabilize the turkey body.

  6. Glue on eyes on each side of the head. Cut out and glue on gobbler make beak and glue on.

Use these to decorated around your house or the Thanksgiving table. Make them in various sizes too. The pattern is easy to adjust, get larger or smaller fabric, pompom and pipe cleaner.

You can use fabrics that correspond and compliment your home furnishings.

These are fun for both mom and kids to make.
