MATERIALS YOU'LL NEED
Lightweight cardboard ( shirt cardboard or poster board)
Felt tip pens
For gift-wrap hearts: wrapping paper or fabric.
Ribbon, yarn, or string for bows; tissue paper (optional).
You'll also need a compass, a ruler, a pencil, scissors, a glue stick or spray-mount adhesive, a dull or sharp knife, and a hole punch.
MAKING THE HEARTS:
To begin, make a circle with the compass as large as desired box. Divide
the circle in eights. Follow the pattern as shown. Cut along
the curved markings. The dotted lines are inward folds; dashed,
outward folds.
With a knife or cutter, score pattern along broken lines.
Punch holes for ribbon, then fold the heart with the pencil markings facing inside. Glue flap under to close the box.
NOTE: If coloring with felt-tip pens, add your design before folding the heart. For each gift-wrap box, glue a circle of gift-wrap to a circle of board, then mark your pattern on the board side. During folding, make sure pencil marks are inside.
Stuff hearts with tissue; secure open area of each with a bow.
